Will the Republican Party’s attack on Transgender Rights Ensure Its Future?

Over the past couple of years we have seen a lot of big changes in the Republican Party in the United States (as politicians like to say “it is not your parent’s Republican Party”). During the end of Obama’s presidency and the beginning of Trump’s, we saw Republicans doing a lot to simply obstruct the Democratic Party as a tactic. Therefore, instead of the Democrats getting what they wanted done in government, things just stayed the same. After that things got more to a point where it seemed like Republicans were doing things to get a reactionary response from the Democrats to distract them from other matters. A lot of people thought that the attacks on women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights were part of that along with appealing to populations of bigots to try to get votes, but I would argue that it probably goes further than that.
