Israel-Palestine Tensions: A Global Conflict

Beginning in the twentieth century when Resolution 181 was adopted by the United Nations, the British Mandate of Palestine was split up into two: the Arab and Jewish states. Then in 1948, the first Arab-Israeli War, the larger on-going conflict, had begun. In the next few decades, the Arab states surrounding the region initiated countless attacks over territorial disputes, killing over hundreds of thousands of civilians and displaced many more. Although various agreements have been made, many have been rejected and others have not been followed through. The fighting has continued to the 21st century and the Israel-Palestine conflict has become a global conflict.
